The JSA board sat in an all day Planning Session on the 19th of October to pregame the 2020 season. We took your feedback from the season, as well as, the survey and came up with a plan that we are really excited to share with you.
To start things off, we would like to announce the, new to 2020, Spring Season!
In order to shake things up, we are turning them upside down. The 2020 season will start May 1st through May 31st with Spring Coed League, this will be similar to what second season has been in the past, only in reverse. We are hoping this will give teams a little more time to recruit players, like those finishing high school and college semesters, in turn increasing membership.
Regular Season will begin June 1st and end August 15th
We are also offering a discount off your team fee if you register both your Spring Season Coed and Regular Season Coed teams by the March 27th deadline.
We talked about having a preseason camp with food and members or high school players running drills and showing players (new and seasoned) how to bat, hit, catch, generally how to play, We feel that we will get more interest in the sport if we showed new players how to play. We will schedule 2 days to do this, May 9th and 17th.
Between Season Tourney
JSA will be hosting a Men’s and Women’s Super-Draft Tournament May 30-31. This will be after the Spring Season has ended, but a great kick off to regular season. We will be in need of volunteers to help with umping, and we hope to see some great participation.
Rainball will be held July 16-19. You may have noticed we missed mention of the coed tourney. That is because we are going to try and fit it in with Rainball. We hope this will help cut overall costs, entice more teams to travel to Juneau for Rainball, and focus on making this a great overall tournament for our membership.
Putting on both these tournaments at once will be a great task, since our board members are first and foremost players, we would love to ask for assistance from the league to make this successful. We will need help in the concession stand and with sponsors for the tournament.
We will be sending out additional information in the upcoming months, so stay tuned!
You should have recently received an email from JSA with a link to the 2019 End of Season Survey. Please take a few minutes to give us your feedback. You may also view the survey here: 2019 End of Season Survey
The JSA board is preparing a planning retreat this off-season, and would love to take your feedback into consideration for the 2020 season.
