And the countdown begins! We’re less than 100 days away from the start of the 2022 season! The JSA Board and our Executive Director have spent the last few months preparing for the upcoming season. We had an all-day planning session in November and had our monthly board meeting in January. Below is the most current information regarding the upcoming season that we wanted to share. 

Spring Season
We are very excited to bring back Spring Season this year! Spring Season will start May 2nd and go through May 27th with a Coed-only League. Register for Spring Season by April 11th. 

Regular Season
Regular Season will begin May 30th and ends August 19th with Men’s, Women’s, and Coed leagues. Register for Regular Season by April 29th. 

Registration for both Spring and Regular Season goes live on January 28th! Click on the Registration tab to start this process. We plan to open registration for both Rainball and the Super Draft Tournament much earlier this year, so keep an eye out for that announcement. 

Team & Player Fees
Spring Season player fees this year will be $20. There will be no discounts for a player who registers for Spring Season & Regular Season Coed. All other player and team fees remain the same for league play. The full list of fees for 2022 can be found on the registration page on our website. 

Rainball Tournament
Our annual Rainball tournament will be held June 23rd-26th this year. We’re working on securing special rates at local hotels for teams who plan to travel from outside of Juneau. Rainball will include Men, Women, and Coed teams again this year. Due to the increased costs of running this tournament, the team fee will increase this season to $400. The deadline to register for Rainball is June 12th. Please be prepared for the possibility of games being played ALL DAY on Friday June 24th. 

The JSA Board will be looking for help from the league and the community to make Rainball successful. Volunteers are welcomed and encouraged! We will be recruiting for volunteers as we get closer to the season. 

Super Draft Tournament
JSA will again be hosting a Super Draft Tournament on the weekend of August 6th-7th, with the Draft taking place on Friday the 5th. Player fees remain the same and the number of players who register will determine if there is more than one division. The deadline to register for the Super Draft Tournament is August 1st. 

Executive Director Update
For those who may not know, after the close of the 2021 Season Kyle Scholl submitted his resignation as our JSA Executive Director. We’re grateful for all his hard work over his three-year tenure with JSA and wish him all the best in his next adventure. We have hired Rachelle Bonnett as our next Executive Director – she has been a longtime JSA softball player and also held a seat on our Board of Directors during the past year. Rachelle worked closely with Kyle to get up to speed in her new role and is excited for the upcoming season.

COVID-19
Our COVID-19 Committee will again meet this year to prepare for our upcoming season. We will be looking over the mitigation plan that was put into place during last season to make sure it is still up to date. We will continue to be in contact with CBJ, Parks and Rec and JDOA to make sure we have everything in place that is needed for us to begin our season on time. Updated information will be sent out to all members as needed. 

Rule Changes for 2022
We’re putting the final touches on our rule changes for 2022 and will be sharing these shortly.
