We are now recruiting umpires for the 2024 softball season! No previous umpire experience is required; we have a strong mentoring program to help you get started.

Umpires are needed 2-3 games per night, 1-5 nights a week Monday through Friday, with 3 weekend tournaments during the 2024 season, running May through mid-August. This is a great opportunity to earn some extra money over the summer – plus, JSA players who become umpires have their player fees waived for the season!
2024 Umpire Training
The Juneau-Douglas Officials Association (JDOA) will host a training program beginning in the early spring for all returning and new umpires. The trainings will cover available resources, USA and local rules, game management, umpire mechanics, handling difficult situations, and most importantly helping you pass the USA Softball certification exam. New umpires will work initially with an experienced softball umpire to help get adjusted to the game.
